Telecommunication Issues
- As a reminder - the toll free connection is no longer available for asynchronous or FTP file transfers as of July 31, 2006. Trading partners may still use a dial up connection through the local Topeka number.
- Topeka Dial up Numbers
- FTP Dial Up (785-290-0901)
- Asynchronous Dial Up (785-291-9909)
As of July 1, 2007, the Asynchronous connection will be discontinued. The Zmodem, Xmodem and Ymodem protocols are older technology. If a hardware failure should occur, there is no guarantee repairs could be made.
NPI
- Provider should report their new NPI numbers to the payer. The NPI confirmation letter may be faxed to 716-887-2056.
- At this time there is still an edit in place to reject claims reporting the NPI number. The edit will likely be lifted after the first of the year. Once an exact date has been determined, a notice will be posted to the ASK website.
- The payer will report NPI numbers to ASK. ASK will fax confirmation letter to trading partners once these have been loaded.
- The payer is recommending that vendors test the NPI. Further information will be conveyed in the future.
Other Issues:
- ASK will be implementing an edit (H374) within the next few weeks to reject Empire plan claims. Currently these claims are accepted and passed to the payer. The payer denies these on the remittance advice.
ASK wants to encourage you and your clients to share suggestions and ideas on how we can provide better assistance. Please send an email with suggestions to askedi@ask-edi.com.
The next regularly scheduled call will be January 4, 2007. Notification will be sent via email to those who have signed up for the mail list on the New York Customers section of the ASK website:
