General Announcements:
- EDI System Deployment is scheduled for Sunday, January 29, 2006. This deployment will include some edits that will be set to a 60 day warning. The edits are posted on the website.
- The EDI System will be unavailable on Sunday 1/29/06 between 3:00PM and 6:00PM CT, during the deployment.
System Updates:
- System Deployment for February is targeted for Sunday, February 19, 2006. This deployment is expected to contain new eligibility edits for BCBSKS set to a 60 day warning. Information regarding these edits will be posted on www.bcbsks.com.
- The Universal Power Supply will be replaced on Sunday, February 12, 2006. Downtime is expected to be from 8:00 a.m. to midnight.
Upcoming Events:
- ASK is scheduling User Group Meetings for May 2006. Additional information will be announced in the Just ASK Newsletter and at the next vendor call.
Medicare A and B:
- Beginning January 3, 2006 Medicare will allow the submittal of the XX qualifier for NPI. Claims submitted with the NPI must include the Medicare (Legacy) provider number in the REF segment, or claims will be rejected.
- Medicare B is currently holding What’s New 2006. Workshops are covering many items including NPI.
BCBSKS:
BCBSKC:
- BCBSKC does not have any dates ready for NPI but will publish an article in their next newsletter with information regarding NPI.
EDI Midwest:
835 Information:
- BCBSKS is planning an aggressive move toward electronic remittance advices.
- BCBSKC had problems with delivery of 835 files on 1/17/2006. This issue was corrected and all providers should have received their files by 1/18/2006.
Telecommunications Changes:
- Trading Partners are encouraged to move to using FTP or the Internet for file transfer. EDI Services is considering the elimination of the asynchronous options.
Provider Communications:
- The Just ASK! Newsletter is scheduled to be available on the ASK website during the week of January 23, 2006.
270/271 Issues:
- BCBSKS is in production.
- BCBSKC is expecting to be ready for production on January 30, 2006.

- BCBSKS is in production.
