General Announcements:
- We have discovered the vendor information we have on file is outdated. If we do not have accurate vendor information on file we are unable to:
- Get urgent information to you either by mail or phone.
- Unable to lend assistance if the vendor contact information is not current.
The vendor directory on the each website is used by prospective clients who are
interested in locating a vendor. Please let us know by fax, on your company letterhead, if the information needs to be updated. Current vendor contact names may be updated in the same way. The vendor changes may be faxed to 785-290-0720 on company letterhead.
- We want to remind everyone Daylight Savings is early this year, March 11, 2007.
- Currently Companion Documents are being updated and will be published to web sites March 1, 2007. We encourage everyone to sign up for email list to receive notification at the following web sites for EDI activities. www.ask-edi.com, www.bcbsks.com, www.wheatlandsadmin.com
NPI
- Current NPI schedules were reviewed for the following payers:
- BCBSKS requires all providers to register NPI with them at:
http://www.bcbsks.com/providers/npi/forms/NPI_form.pdf
- BCBSKS is accepting NPI with legacy billing provider required.
- Medicare A and B are accepting NPI however strongly suggest continued submission of legacy billing number but, is not required.
- BCBSKC is accepting NPI with legacy billing provider required.
- PHP is accepting NPI with legacy billing provider required.
- For EDI Midwest clients NPI is being accepted with legacy billing provider required.
- We want to remind everyone when submitting the NPI the EIN must also be reported in the REF segment.
- Currently Emdeon, the clearinghouse we use for EDI Midwest claims, is reporting an issue with the hyphen in the EIN number being reported in the REF segment.
- On February 18, 2007 we are implementing two new warning edits for BCBSKS ONLY claims. The edits are:
- E010a - No NPI submitted, claim will reject after 5/22/07. (Billing Provider Level)
- E010b - No NPI submitted, claim will reject after 5/22/07. (Rendering Provider level if Rendering Provider loop is present)
- Additional new NPI edits for BCBSKS only:
- B258b - Line Rendering Provider # can not = Billing Rendering Provider #
- B344b - 2310B Rendering Provider loop required with Billing Provider #
- Authentication and provider validation editing is being implemented at varying schedules between now and May 23. Edits will be implemented as warnings.
- BCBSKS only may return multiple 835’s for one NPI for a short period of time. We asked if this would be a problem for anyone. Feedback indicated this would cause no problems.
- BCBSKS will always produce two 835’s if one NPI is used for both professional and institional claims. One institional 835 and one professional 835.
NPI questions:
- Does the hyphen (-) issue apply to all payers?
- No, only EDI Midwest Payers.
- Will CMS make available a list of NPI numbers? (Decimation Plan)
- Currently no plans are underway.
- Jane L. indicated the Greater Kansas City Medial Managers web site at www.gkcmma.com contains a list from members who submitted information to them.
System Updates:
- The next system deployment is scheduled for Sunday, February 18, 2007.
