General Announcements:
- The toll free status line is available at 1-800-472-6481, option 2. This line is provided to give current information regarding the status of ASK systems. Once you enter the status line, the following options are available.
- Option 1 – EDI System Status

System Updates:
- The next system deployment is scheduled for Sunday, February 19, 2006.
- The February 19, 2006 deployment will include changes to BCBSKS eligibility edits. A 60-day warning will be implement for all new edits. For more information regarding the new edits, please visit www.bcbsks.com.
- The beginning process to update the Universal Power Supply occurred on February 12, 2006. This process will be completed on Sunday, March 12, 2006 and downtime is expected to be from 8:00 a.m. to midnight.
Upcoming Events:
- ASK is scheduling User Group Meetings for May and June 2006. Additional information will be announced in the Just ASK Newsletter and at the next vendor call.
Medicare A and B:
- Change Requests 4096 and 4177 have been posted concerning the use of the UPIN. This applies specifically to the use of OTH000 in preparation for NPI. OTH000 will be accepted through EDI, but these claims will be denied on the remittance advice as MA130, unprocessable.
- Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B are now accepting the NPI. The only validation on the NPI at this time is the XX qualifier and both 1C and XX must be submitted.

BCBSKS:
ASK Payers:

- BCBSKC - Not ready for NPI. BCBSKS will post information in the near future.
- EDI Midwest - No updates to report at this time.
835 Information:
- Nothing new to report at this time.
Telecommunications Changes:
- Trading Partners are encouraged to move to using FTP or the Internet for file transfer. EDI Services is considering the elimination of the asynchronous options.
Provider Communications:
- The January Just ASK! Newsletter has been posted to the ASK website. The next newsletter is scheduled to be available in March.
270/271 Issues:
- BCBSKS is in production.
- BCBSKC will be moved to production on February 21, 2006.
276/277 Issues:
- Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B will be creating a new 276 reject report for bad 276 requests. Currently the reports are being developed and tested, however, they have not been beta tested yet.
- Medicare Part A beta testing is going well.
- BCBSKS is in production.
- BCBSKC will be moved to production on February 21, 2006.
