General Information:

• In preparation for NPI May 23, 2008, the EDI System will not be available Thursday May 22, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. C.T through 9:00 p.m. C.T.  
• The submission of the Employer's Identification Number, EI qualifier, and/or the Social Security Number, SY qualifier, structure is validated on the EDI Front End.  When submitting an EI with no dash (-) it must be 9 digits long. When submitting an EI with a dash, the dash must be in the third position and the length must be 10 characters. When submitting an SY with no dashes (-) it must be 9 digits long. When submitting an SY with dashes, a dash must be in the 4th and 7th position and the length must be 11 characters.  

NPI Information

• On May 6, 2008, email notification of NPI edits was sent to all clients signed up for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and ASK email notification list.

• The May 2008 JustASK newsletter was published on May 6, 2008.  The newsletter contained important EDI System information as well as NPI edit information for all payers.      

• BCBSKS:
• The following warning edits will become rejections effective May 23, 2008. 

Beginning May 23, 2008, the only identification code qualifier and identification code being returned on the 835 (electronic remittance advice) will be the NPI.  The legacy billing provider numbers will no longer be returned.

May 23, 2008, and after Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas will continue to accept legacy provider information submitted however will not edit the information submitted.   

• BCBSKC:
• The following warning edits will become rejections effective May 23, 2008. 

 

After May 23, 2008, the only identification code qualifier and identification code being returned on the 835 (electronic remittance advice) will be the NPI.  The legacy billing provider numbers will no longer be returned. 

• Please help us encourage all our clients to submit NPI only removing all legacy information as soon as possible.
• We encourage all our business partners to please check with all payers concerning the continued acceptance of the legacy billing number on and after May 23, 2008.   

 

System Updates

• The next routine system deployment is scheduled for May 18, 2008. 
• The EDI System will not be available Thursday May 22, 2008, from 6:00 p.m. C.T. through 9:00 p.m. C.T.
