BCBSKS:

835 Information:

  • Medicare B is considering removing the option to receive a test remittance advice. The reason for consideration is due to the test remittance information being provided back from the Medicare standard system test environment is not always a true parallel of production and consistent test information cannot always be created.
    • Question asked - If a decision is made to only provide a production remittance how will this impact you?
      • Dale from Payer Path indicated they found it easier to use a production remittance to test posting etc., with since the data was consistent with paper remittance.
      • Martin from Misys indicated possible issues in the control of the production data automatically posting in production status instead of test. He also indicated concern with NPI testing. The concern was the addition of the NPI coming back on the 835.  Marie did indicate currently if the Medicare legacy provider number and the NPI number are submitted both are returned on the 835 today. Marie reminded only the qualifier is edited the NPI is not currently being edited by the EDI Front End or MCS EDI Front End.
      • Mention of the creation of a dummy remittance file to be created and place in the public mailbox to be used for testing of the transaction.
      • Additional comments, questions or concerns can be emailed to askedi@ask-edi.com
      • Notification of 60 – 90 days of this decision was requested.
  • 06/01/2006 Medicare Part B will no longer provide a ‘test’ electronic remittance advice.
  • Medicare Part B is moving to a twice a week remittance advice.  This will be coordinated with the elimination of the Standard Paper Remittance beginning on June 1, 2006.  The first weekly remittance will be delivered to the trading partner mailboxes on June 7, 2006 and June 9, 2006.  Daily remits will not be delivered to trading partners after June 1, 2006.
