General Information:
- Review of HIPAA Version 5010 dates:
- December 2010 – Covered entities achieve Level 1 Compliance.
Level 1compliance = Covered entities have completed internal testing and, can send and receive compliant transactions.
- January 2011 – Begin Level 2 testing period.
Level 2 testing = External testing with trading partner and moving towards production.
- January 1, 2012 – Achieve Level 2 Compliance.
All trading partners must be submitting production version 5010
- Information was posted in the March 2009 Just ASK Newsletter.
- We need your feed back to the following questions.
- Have you made any decision on if you will be supporting the 277 CA and proprietary reports such as our Claims Confirmation Report?
- Will you only support the 277 CA?
We are proposing changes be made to the Claims Confirmation Report and need your feed back.

- The next routine system deployment is scheduled for August 2, 2009.
Telecommunication Update
All Payer Information
- BCBSKS will move current warning edits B386A, B386B, B387 and B388 to rejection on August 2, 2009. These edits are specifically to BCBSKS secondary to Medicare claims.
- If a BCBSKS secondary to Medicare claim does not automatically cross over in the Medicare COBC process the claim must be submitted containing the following information.
- Medicare ICN in the2300 NTE with ADD qualifier
- Medicare Adjudication Date 2330B with a 573 qualifier
- Medicare Adjudication Date 2330B DTP03 must be greater than 30 days or equal to date in BHT 04

- As a reminder when filing secondary claims the same reason/remarks codes received on the paper remittance advice and/or the 835 must be submitted to the secondary payment for accurate processing of claim.
