General Information:

• Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas office will be closed Monday September 1, 2008 in observance of Labor Day.

NPI Information

• Please assist us in encouraging all our clients to submit NPI only removing all legacy information from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and Kansas City submissions.

• EDI Midwest Commercial Claims requires one occurrence of ‘G5’ in the 2010AA REF01.  Please refer to the companion document located at http://www.ask-edi.com/trading_partners/compdocs.htm.

Telecommunication Update

• On July 30, 2008 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas announced it will discontinue the dial-up X, Y and Z modem communication option as of December 31, 2008. Notification was posted to the BCBSKS web site on July 30, 2008.

System Updates

• The next routine system deployment is scheduled for September 14, 2008. 

All Payer Information

• Effective November 06, 2008 two corrections will be made to the BCBSKS remittance advice.

• A correction will be made to BPR07 of the ANSI 4010A1 835 file. BPR07 is used to report the ABA Transit Routing number. An ABA Transit Routing number is 9 digits. Currently BCBSKS is reporting a space in front of the 9 digit number. The space will be removed.
• A correction will be made to the CLP02 of the ANSI 4010A1 835 file. CLP02 is used to report the claim status code. Periodically BCBSKS is reporting a 1, Processed as Primary. The claim status code will be reported correctly. 

• September 16, 2008 EDI Midwest reports will be changed. The new EDI Midwest reports will have a different layout and are streamlined to provide a user friendly report. Please watch for detailed information to be posted to the ASK web site. An email notifier will be sent prior to September 16, 2008 as a reminder.
