General Information:

• Review of HIPAA Version 5010 dates:
• December 2010 – Covered entities achieve Level 1 Compliance.
  Level 1compliance = Covered entities have completed internal testing and, can send and receive compliant transactions.

• January 2011 – Begin Level 2 testing period.
  Level 2 testing = External testing with trading partner and moving towards production.

• January 1, 2012 – Achieve Level 2 Compliance.
  All trading partners must be submitting production version 5010

• The ANSI 5010 implementation guides are referred to as the TR3's (Technical Reports).  These may be purchased through the Washington Publishing Company. 
• When information becomes available it will be published to the ASK and BCBSKS web sites.    
• Information was posted in the March 2009 Just ASK Newsletter.     

• HIPAA 5010 information is being posted to the ASK and BCBSKS web sites. 

 

• We are proposing changes be made to the Claims Confirmation Report and need your feed back.
• Have you made any decisions regarding support for the 277 CA and proprietary reports such as our Claims Confirmation Report?
• Will you only support the 277 CA?

System Updates

• The next routine system deployment is scheduled for November 15, 2009.  

Telecommunication Update

• A quick review of the preferred method of communication. Changes will be coming in the future concerning dial up FTP connectivity. Please explore options in the Telecommunications Manual. • During the call attendees were asked if their clients were still connecting via dial up FTP.

• BCBSKC no longer accepts batch 270 and 276 transaction. Only real time transactions are accepted.
