Vendor Call Minutes
December 21, 2006
General Announcements:
- Medicare A successfully completed the data center transition on Monday, November 27, 2006.
- Top Errors
- Diagnosis Code is Invalid – Diagnosis codes are validated on electronic claims received through the EDI System. Trading Partners should use the most current ICD-9 Codes available when billing. ICD-9 codes are effective October 1 of the year and HCPCS and CPT are effective
January 1 of the year, however both can be updated quarterly.
- Subscriber Postal Code is Invalid – The zip code submitted for the subscriber must be a valid zip code. The Trading Partner may validate the zip code by visiting www.usps.com.
- Additional errors are listed in the Just ASK newsletter available on the ASK website.
- Updating EDI Enrollment procedures
- Signatures required on all new setups requesting a new TP#. This means a paper form is required.
- Changes/Updates to existing TP# will be available through e-form.
- All requests for setup, changes or updates for 835 transactions will require a provider signature. This means a paper form is required.
- New forms are now available on the website.
NPI
- Vendors are asked to encourage all clients to check with each payer they submit to on NPI information and how it should be reported to them.
- All vendors should watch for changes to the NPI timelines available on the Wheatland Medicare Website, ASK Website and the BCBSKS Website. Updates will be made as soon as new information is available.
- Payers (BCBSKS, BCBSKC, BCBSWNY, BSNENY, & HNNY) need to be notified of NPI numbers as they become available. Payers will be sending the updated information to EDI for updates to security. EDI will carry as many of these NPI numbers over to commercial claims as possible. EDI will send
confirmation letters to Trading Partners as numbers are added.
- Vendors are asked to please make sure their customers are sending the correct format for their paper claim forms. Several new claim forms have been received by BCBSKS with the old format. Since information has shifted on the new forms, this is causing problems and will slow claims processing.
System Updates:
- The next system deployment is scheduled for Sunday, January 21, 2007.
All Payer 837 Information:
- All processes are working as expected.
835 Information:
- The Medicare A 835 print image product, PC Print, has been updated and is posted to www.wheatlandsadmin.com. This new update will correct the recently reported problems.
- Issues have been reported to CMS concerning Medicare Remit Easy Print software. A new release correcting these problems will be available on the CMS website on 1/2/07.

- The edit documentation has been missing from the ASK website for some time. The information was pulled due to inaccuracies in the documentation. The documentation is in the process of being updated and new processes are being created to insure the accuracy of the information posted. The
new documentation will become available during the first quarter of 2007.
